Japan’s most active volcano named as Sakurajima, which is located on the southern island of Kyushu and has erupted since the 1950s and sometimes it erupts over 200 times a year.

What was the News about Sakurajima Volcano?

The Kyodo News reported that The Sakurajima volcano in Kagoshima prefecture in southwestern Japan erupted on 16 November 2025 and sending ash and smoke as high as 4,400 meters (14,436 feet) or (4.4 kilometres).

The volcano eruption is the sudden expulsion of magma, gas, and ash from a volcano’s vent.

The eruption occurs when pressure builds from molten rock (magma) and gases deep within the Earth and forcing the material up through cracks in the crust and it can last days, months, or even years.

03) Vulcanian – This type of eruptions are short-lived and moderately explosive which often form dense clouds of ash.
04) Plinian – This type of eruption are the most violent and explosive which generating towering columns of gas and ash that can reach high into the atmosphere

The classification of the volcanic eruptions are based on the style and intensity of the eruption which can from gentle lava flows to powerful and violent explosions.
