UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist Recruitment 2021 –  The UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) has released an official notification on 07th October 2020 and invited online applications for the UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist preliminary examination 2021 on its official website. The process to Apply online regarding the examination has also been uploaded on the commission’s official website. Eligible and Interested candidates can apply for the UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist preliminary examination 2021 online at the official website “upsc.gov.in” or directly click on the link provided in the Important Link Area in the blog on or before 27th October 2020, till 6 pm.

UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist Recruitment 2021 – As per the official notification published by UPSC, The eligible applicants can register for the recruitment exam must go the online process only. As per the UPSC official notification the recruitment test will be to fill the total of 40 vacancies out of which 16 posts are for Scientist ‘B’ (Hydrogeology) Group A 15 for Chemist, Group A, 6 for Scientist ‘B’ (Geophysics) Group ‘A’, and 3 for Scientist ‘B’ (Chemical) Group ‘A’. The UPSC already notified that the posts of geologist and geophysicist have been removed from the Combined Geo-Scientist Examination, 2021 as there is no vacancy for these positions and the Commission have been added to the exam for two new services. They are – Scientist-B (Geophysics), Group A and Scientist-B (Chemical), Group A and the post of Jr. Hydrogeologist (Scientist B) has been renamed as Scientist-B (Hydrogeology).

Age Requirement

The age eligibility for candidate for this examination must be full fill the age criteria as prescribed in the notification are given below –
(a) For Chemist (Group ‘A’) in the Geological Survey of India. the candidate must have attained the minimum age of 21 years and must not have attained the maximum age of 32 years on the first day of the month of January of the year in which the Examination is to be held (i.e. as on 1st January, 2021]. (The candidate must have to born not earlier than 2nd January, 1989 and not later than 1st January 2000).
(b) For the recruitment of Scientist ‘B’(Hydrogeology) Group ‘A’, Scientist ‘B’(Chemical) Group ‘A’ and Scientist ‘B’(Geophysics) Group ‘A’ in Central Ground water Board, Ministry of Water Resources. The candidate must have attained the minimum age of 21 years and must not have attained the maximum age of 32 years on 1st January, 2021. (The candidate must have to born not later than 2nd
January 1989 and not later than 1st January 2000).
(C) The upper age limit will be relaxed upto the maximum of 7 years in the case of the candidate is a Government servant. The upper age limits for the other reserved categories are as per the Govt. norms

Chemist Gr ‘A’ in Geological Survey of India and Scientist ‘B’(Chemical) Group ‘A’ in C.G.W.B
M. Sc. in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry from a University incorporated
by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature or other educational Institutes established by an Act of
the Parliament or declared to be deemed Universities under section 3 of the University Grants
Commission Act, 1956 i.e. recognized University.
Scientist ‘B’(Hydrogeology) Group ‘A’ in C.G.W.B.
Master’s degree in Geology or applied Geology or Marine Geology or Hydrogeology from a University
incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational Institutes
established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as Universities under Section 3 of the
University Grants Commission Act, 1956.
Scientist ‘B’(Geophysics) Group ‘A’ in C.G.W. B.
Master of Science degree in Physics or Applied Physics or Geophysics or Applied Geophysics or
Marine Geophysics or Integrated M.Sc. (Exploration Geophysics) or M.Sc (Technology) (Applied
Geophysics) from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or
other educational Institutes established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as
Universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.

by using “Pay by Cash” mode. The candidate should print the system generated Payin-slip during Part II registration and deposit the fee at the counter of SBI Branch on the next
working day only. “Pay by Cash” mode will be deactivated at 11:59 p.m. of 26.10.2020 i.e. one day before the closing date of submission of application;

How to Apply

a) – the Eligible candidates are required to apply Online by using the official link https://www. upsconline.nic.in as a Detailed instructions are available for filling up the Online Applications on the above mentioned website.
b) – The applicant are advised to submit only single application. c) – The applicants who are submitting multiple applications should note that only the
applications with higher RID (Registration ID) shall be entertained by the Commission and fee paid
against one RID shall not be adjusted against any other RID. d) – All candidates, whether already in Government Service, in Government owned industrial
undertakings or other similar organizations or in private employment should submit their
applications direct to the Commission. Persons already in Government service, whether in permanent or temporary capacity or as work charged employees other than casual or daily rated employees or those serving under the Public Enterprises are, however, required to inform in writing their Head of
Office/Department that they have applied for the Examination. Candidates should note that in case a
communication is received from their employer by the Commission withholding permission to the candidates applying for/appearing at the Examination, their application will be liable to be rejected/candidature will be liable to be cancelled. e) – Candidates are not required to submit hard copy/print out of their application to the Commission at this stage.

Plan of Examination

The Examination shall be conducted according to the following plan:—
(i) Stage-I : Combined Geo-Scientist (Preliminary) Examination (Computer Based Objective
Type Papers) for the selection of candidates for the Stage-II- 400 Marks
(ii) Stage-II : Combined Geo-Scientist (Main) Examination (Conventional Type Papers)
– 600 Marks
(iii) Stage-III : Personality Test/Interview – 200 Marks

The candidates will first take the Computer Based Combined Geo-Scientist(Preliminary/Stage-I) Examination which consists of two Objective Type (multiple choices) Questions Papers for each stream. The Question Papers will be set in English only.

INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIDATES FOR FILLING ONLINE APPLICATIONS

  • Candidates are required to apply Online using the website https://upsconline.nic.in.
  • Detailed instructions for filling up online applications are available on the above mentioned website.
  • Candidates will be required to complete the Online Application Form containing two stages viz. Part-I and Part-II as per the instructions available in the above mentioned site through drop down menus.
  • The candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs.200/- Rupees Two Hundred only) [excepting SC/ST/ Female/Persons with Benchmark Disability candidates who are exempted from payment of fee] either by depositing the money in any branch of State Bank of India by cash, or by using net banking facility of State Bank of India or by using any Visa/Master/RuPay Credit/ Debit Card.
  • Before start filling up Online Application, a candidate must have his photograph and signature duly scanned in the .jpg format in such a manner that each file should not exceed 300 KB each and must not be less than 20 KB in size for the photograph and signature.
  • The candidate should have details of one Photo ID viz. Aadhar Card/Voter Card/PAN Card/Passport/Driving License/Any other photo ID Card issued by the State/Central Government. The details of this photo ID will have to be provided by the candidate while filling up the online application form. This photo ID will be used for all future references and the candidate is advised to carry this ID while appearing for the Examination.
  • The Online applications (Part I and II) can be filled from 7th October, 2020 to 27th October, 2020 till 1800 Hrs.
  • No candidate will be allowed to leave the Test Lab during the test.
  • No candidate is allowed to leave his/her seat without permission of the invigilator.
  • Test time period is: 120 minutes i.e. 2 hours.
  • Candidates to please ensure that they reach the venue of the Examination by the reporting time as stipulated in the e-Admit Card failing which they will not be admitted to the Examination.
  • Password will be announced at 10 minutes before starting the Examination. Candidates will open the secure browser and read instructions for 10 minutes.
  • Mobile phones, bluetooth or any other communication devices are not allowed inside the premises
